Mariaelena Palomino, LMFT
CEO / Clinical Director
Mariaelena Palomino is the founder, CEO, and Clinical Director of Behavioral Aid Solutions, which she established in 2011. With a career in mental health beginning in 1999, spanning intake, case management, clinical supervision, and group therapy roles across more than a dozen Miami-Dade agencies before founding BAS, she holds a Master's in Marriage & Family Therapy (Ms.Ed.) from the University of Miami and a B.A. in Psychology/Sociology from Florida International University. She is a licensed LMFT, a Qualified Supervisor for the State of Florida, and a member of Cohort 18 of the Latino Business Action Network (LBAN) at Stanford's Graduate School of Business.
Juan Ruiz-Unger, MD
Medical Director
Dr. Juan Ruiz-Unger serves as Medical Director at Behavioral Aid Solutions, bringing 40 years of experience as a board-certified pediatrician in Miami. A Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics (FAAP), he has maintained a pediatric practice in Miami since 1986, holds a Clinical Assistant Professor appointment at Nova Southeastern University since 1998, and is affiliated with Miami Children's Hospital, Baptist Hospital of Miami, and South Miami Hospital. Dr. Ruiz-Unger is fluent in English and Spanish.
Aracelis "Shelly" Mosquera, LCSW
Director of Outpatient Services
Aracelis Mosquera is the Director of Outpatient Services at Behavioral Aid Solutions, bringing over 20 years of clinical management, regulatory compliance, and consulting experience across both public and private behavioral healthcare systems. She holds a Master of Social Work (MSW) from Florida International University and is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). Aracelis takes an eclectic, individualized approach to care — incorporating Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help clients build awareness and develop healthier paths forward.
Edgar J. Gómez
Director of Strategy & Operations
Edgar Jose Gómez serves as Director of Operations & Strategy at Behavioral Aid Solutions, bringing extensive experience in broadcast, marketing, production, and technology deployment. He leads business development, brand governance, and technology implementation across the organization, and secured Behavioral Aid Solutions' place as one of only 14 recognized vendors for Miami-Dade County Public Schools — the second-largest school district in the United States. His work is guided by a simple belief: technology should never replace compassion — it should remove the barriers that prevent it.
Erika De Sautu Dominguez, LMHC
Lead Clinical Supervisor
Erika De Sautu Dominguez is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and one of Miami-Dade's most established clinicians, with nearly three decades of experience in behavioral health. She serves as Lead Clinical Supervisor of the Registered Intern Program at Behavioral Aid Solutions, and has been a Qualified Clinical Supervisor since 2007, training and supervising registered interns across multiple Miami-area agencies throughout her career. Erika holds a Master's in Mental Health Counseling from St. Thomas University and a Bachelor's in Psychology from the University of Miami.
Yuri "Gaby" Torres, LMFT
Lead Intake Supervisor
Yuri "Gaby" Torres oversees the supervision of all intakes arriving at Behavioral Aid Solutions as Lead Intake Supervisor. A Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) of Venezuelan background, Gaby earned her degree from Nova Southeastern University in 2014 and has worked with children and families ever since. She has been part of the Behavioral Aid Solutions team for more than 12 years — starting as a registered intern and growing into her leadership role today — and is passionate about advocating for children and helping families fully enjoy their time together.
Marel Pérez Pérez, MS, CBHCM-S
Targeted Case Management Supervisor
Marel Perez Perez leads Targeted Case Management at Behavioral Aid Solutions as TCM Supervisor, bringing a career that spans psychology, higher education, and international development across Cuba, the Dominican Republic, and the United States. A Certified Behavioral Health Case Manager Supervisor (CBHCM-S) with a Master's in Clinical Psychology, Marel has been part of the Behavioral Aid Solutions team for more than 14 years — one of the organization's longest-serving team members — grounding her work in both regulatory compliance and genuine clinical need.
Gerri DeRubeis, CMA, CEPA
Fractional CFO
Gerri DeRubeis serves as Fractional CFO for Behavioral Aid Solutions through her firm, CFO Mindset. A Certified Management Accountant (CMA) and Certified Exit Planning Advisor (CEPA), Gerri brings over two decades of financial leadership experience — including roles as CFO, Management Accountant, and Construction Finance Manager — to help guide the organization's financial strategy and long-term growth.
